The Painter's Jacket
THE PIECE
Inspired by the very first chore coat that showed up in late 19th century France, our interpretation has a structured fit, tapered sleeve, and four front pockets.
FABRIC
Sewn using 100% sustainable cotton. The raw materials are upcycled and woven by a family owned and operated mill, based out of Guatemala. Their circular manufacturing process is chemical-free, dye-free and uses minimal water and energy. What does upcycled mean? The textile mill collects and sorts post-industrial waste from local garment factories, grinds the scraps back into fiber, and spins them into new yarns that will then be woven into new fabric.
SEWING
  • Designed and sewn in CA
  • 8 oz. cotton
  • Corozo buttons (nut based)
  • White contrast stitching
  • Pre-washed and shrunk
  • Model: Size small (5' 8")

FABRIC
Fiber Content: Upcycled Cotton woven by The New Denim Project
Sewn using 100% sustainable cotton. The raw materials are upcycled and woven by a family owned and operated mill, based out of Guatemala. Their circular manufacturing process is chemical-free, dye-free and uses minimal water and energy. What does upcycled mean? The textile mill collects and sorts post-industrial waste from local garment factories, grinds the scraps back into fiber, and spins them into new yarns that will then be woven into new fabric.
SEWING
We currently produce our pieces in two locations. Our limited edition items are made in our San Diego studio, by a team of two. Everything else is sewn by a small factory based in Los Angeles, CA. California has some of the most environmentally friendly manufacturing laws anywhere in the world. Our inventory is created in settings that abide by these standards. We practice labor safety and well-being, while providing a fair California living wage.
CARE
As you should with all your textiles, treat this piece with care and it’ll stick around for a while. Here are some of our favorite practices: Wear your clothing multiple times between washes to reduce water and energy use. When needed, wash in cold water with a gentle cycle and let them air dry, to preserve fabric color and minimize stress on the fibers.
WASTE
You’d be surprised how much fabric is leftover after cutting a garment. We do our best to design and layout our patterns for maximum efficiency but there’s still loss. We feel it’s our responsibility to deal with this waste, so we've designed a few products that are sewn almost completely from these remnants.
SIZING
This fabric has little to no stretch so if you're in between sizes, we'd recommend going up. Take note that it has not been pre-shrunk.
If you have any questions about measurements or fit, feel free to email emma@pairupetc.com
We recommend this vegan kapok insert, that’s been tested to fit our cases very well. It's also one of the most environmentally friendly insert options out there.
